After dragging ourselves away from our hammocks, we headed north towards the captial via Tha Khet and Ban Khon Kan. These two tiny towns in the middle of nowhere were lovely places to break the journey. Although the journey itself was less lovely! The first trip saw us on local buses with crickets (seriously, a whole sack of live ones!), avocados, scooters, people, and god knows what else. The second leg was in the back of a truck. It's not the most comfortable way to spend three hours, but the views made up for it. Laos has some of the most dramatic scenery I've seen on the trip. It's quite simply breathtaking.
I'd show you. But, yep, still no luck with the photo upload business.
