I'm shit! And I've run out of excuses.
So let's just pretend that I have been a great blogger and that I've updated my progress every single step of the way. All good?
It's now 2011 (just in case anyone missed it). And I am now in India. Well, I am in Goa...which is sort of India.
After throwing myself on the mercy of my lovely friend Sarah-Jane's Mum over christmas and new year, I've journeyed a whole hour south to Patnem. And I'm not sure I will ever leave.
The days here pass wonderfully slowly. Yoga and a swim, breakfast, a little sun-worship, email checking (please, please someone send me work so I don't have to come home yet...yep, not too proud to beg.), cold showers, trips to empty Turtle beach, beer at sunset, dinner with new friends, bed with mosquitos. I am loving every minute.
At some point I will tear myself away and brave the 'real' India. Honest.

Ooh...pretty pictures!
The last couple of posts now have pics! Yeay to technology.
Soon there will be more posts too. I know, I know...only two months late. Some of us have been busy travelling, what can I say? God knows how I managed to fit the day job in....

To Vientiane the long way round
After dragging ourselves away from our hammocks, we headed north towards the captial via Tha Khet and Ban Khon Kan. These two tiny towns in the middle of nowhere were lovely places to break the journey. Although the journey itself was less lovely! The first trip saw us on local buses with crickets (seriously, a whole sack of live ones!), avocados, scooters, people, and god knows what else. The second leg was in the back of a truck. It's not the most comfortable way to spend three hours, but the views made up for it. Laos has some of the most dramatic scenery I've seen on the trip. It's quite simply breathtaking.
I'd show you. But, yep, still no luck with the photo upload business.

Lovely lovely Laos.
UPDATED - NOV 2010: Now with photos (from the new shiny camera). Woohoo! ;-)

How many people can you fit in one mini-van? Well, if it’s Cambodians doing the logistics…A LOT.
Two hours wedged into a jam-packed mini-van, followed by a bus, a short walk across the border, another bus and a wooden boat, and we made it to Don Khon. Our two days there extended into nearly a week before we even noticed. Time flies when you’re swinging in a hammock.
Waterfalls, forest walks, torrential rain and baking sun. Our 6 days on the banks of the Mekong river drifted by happily - and it was a struggle to leave.
Literally, a real struggle. We had to wait over two hours for a bus… Nothing in Laos PDR happens quickly. But that’s why I love it!
PS. I promise photos soon...t'internet is still not fast enough. Funny that...

A little peace and recuperation time in Kratie...
Having managed to be poorly sick in one way or another for my entire time here in Cambodia, I was in need of a bit of a rest. And where better to do that than on the banks of the Mekong river. The lovely Balcony Guesthouse and stunning views have been nearly enough to make up for the fact I’ve not been able to have a drink in over two weeks. Nearly...
